Presidents and Past Presidents General Assembly of Greater Kansas City Records (0776kc)
The Women's Round Table of Club Presidents held its first meeting on April 21, 1917, in order to "bring together women who are bearing the responsibility of organizational work with a view to coordinating the scattered activities in which women are engaged...." Much of their early work concerned the cause of temperance and helping soldiers in army camps. In 1929, the group became the Presidents and Past Presidents General Assembly of Greater Kansas City, Inc. In a clipping from 1949, the group claimed 800 members representing 418 local clubs.
This collection contains twenty-eight volumes containing minutes, financial reports, programs, correspondence, clippings, and a small number of photos. The first twenty-six volumes are bound, and the records from June 1963 through May 1965 are missing. The minutes include information about a variety of world, national, municipal, social, and cultural issues. Minutes both from board meetings and general assembly meetings are combined in the volumes. In addition, there is one scrapbook, handmade from wood, that contains an illustrated list of donors to the Red Cross blood donors' lounge. 1917-1971.
