Black and Veatch Engineers/Architects Records (KC236)

Black and Veatch, one of Kansas City's largest engineering firms, was founded in 1913 when engineer E.B. Black of Worley and Black invited N.T. Veatch to become his partner following Worley's departure. The firm specialized in civil engineering projects, including waterworks, highways and bridges, utilities, and sewerage. The firm, in cooperation with General Edward T. Stayton, was particularly instrumental in designing Jackson County's highway system. Black and Veatch Engineers/Architects still provides engineering and architectural services locally and nationally. The collection consists of project files relating to the engineering activities of Black and Veatch Engineers/Architects.

The collection contains primarily reports, maps, technical drawings, and contracts pertaining to roads, bridges, waterworks, utilities and sewerage in various Missouri cities and counties, particularly Jackson County. ca. 1917-1954
