calendarThe ground will be officially broken for the $38.4 million Student Union project, Spring 2009. It is anticipated that members of the UMKC administration, faculty, staff, and students will gather to listen as special guests speak about the importance of the new Student Union to the future of student life at the University. Speakers currently scheduled include Interim Chancellor, Leo Morton, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Mel Tyler; Chair of Student Union Committee, Nicholas A. Clark; and the previous as well as current Student Government Association President, Sean McClain and Bridgett Johnson.

The first phase of the project will involve site preparation, where the new student union will be situated. The official construction of the new building is slated to begin Spring 2009, with a grand opening scheduled for Fall  2010.

During construction, we trust students, faculty, staff, and visitors will be patient with the many inconveniences that accompany construction projects. Please know everyone associated with the project is committed to providing the best-possible construction experience and excitedly looking forward to providing this new facility for the students of UMKC.
