Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.

-Helen Keller

Fraternities and sororities incorporate nearly every aspect of student development, from leadership training to social events. All chapters are founded on the principles of scholarship, leadership, service and borhterhood or sisterhood. Take a look at some of the great things our fraternity and sorority members are doing for the community!

SCHOLARSHIP
UMKC fraternities and sororities value academic success. For 11 out of the last 12 semesters our fraternities and sororities have had a higher grade point average than the all campus grade point average. Chapters promote scholarship by providing academic resources for their members including tutoring, academic advisors, and study groups.

LEADERSHIP

Fraternity and sorority life provides students with a variety of leadership opportunities. Members may participate in fraternity or sorority governance as a chapter officer, or by serving on the governing councils for the fraternal community. In addition, our members hold leadership positions at the local, regional and national level. Many of our members are also officers in a variety of other student organizations.

SERVICE

Our fraternity and sorority community addresses the needs of the university and surrounding community by sponsoring service and philanthropic opportunities. Each chapter dedicates itself to worthy local causes and international philanthropies or community service projects by donating their time and fund-raising efforts to help others. The ability to touch the lives of others through your efforts will undoubtedly be one of the more memorable experiences you will have as a member of a fraternity or sorority.

This past year our members donated thousands of volunteer hours providing services and funding for local charitable organizations such as Children's Mercy Hospital, Harvester's Food Bank, Special Olympics, American Heart Association, Children's Miracle Network, and the Salvation Army.
BROTHERHOOD & SISTERHOOD

The bonds you develop with other members in your chapter are more than just friendships. Members support each other through sucesses and challenges, and upperclass brothers and sisters encourage and foster growth in new members. The lifelong friendships you develope in college will continue to flourish long after you graduate.

Every chapter has an alumni network to assist members in adjusting to new communities, finding employment, or just to offer personal friendship based on the common experience of membership in your organization.
