Located
at 25th and Campbell Streets, the Swinney
Annex is the latest health and wellness
offering for UMKC students, faculty and
staff. Newly renovated in the spring of 2009
with the addition of men's and women's
locker rooms, the Annex is an extension of
Swinney Recreation Center for those SRC
students and members who work
and take classes on the Hospital Hill
campus. The Annex is open weekdays
only from 11:00am to 7:00pm.
The Annex (formerly the Nursing Annex) offers a number of fitness
options. The Cardio Room includes six Life
Fitness elliptical trainers, two TechnoGym
waves and three Life Fitness stationary
bicycles. Two Pilates beds, along with
training DVDs, can be found in the Yoga
Room. The Weight Room contains two Bowflex
machines, dumbbells and a limited selection
of free weights, as well as Bosu and
medicine balls.
For those who are tired of the same routine,
the Annex has several other non-traditional
fitness options as well, including two Wiis
equipped with Wii Sports and Wii
Fit, as well as a Game Room, which features two table
tennis tables and a foosball table.
The Annex is a perfect solution on Hospital
Hill for those students who are looking for
a quick workout in between classes or
rotations as well as for those faculty and
staff members who would enjoy a lunchtime
workout. The Annex has both men's and
women's locker rooms with changing areas and
individual showers.
