Learn the real history of working people—what they don’t teach in school. It's a surprising and dramatic story filled with lessons for today's working people. Learn about slaves and indentured servants, the fight for the 8 hour day, how skilled and unskilled workers organized, whether any politicians stuck by labor and why and when labor's power began to decline.

Learn federal labor law with focus on the National Labor Relations Act. which covers private sector worker organizing, bargaining, picketing, strikes and much more. Cover parallel issues in public sector and transportation and the role of government in the regulation of labor-management relations in the United States.

Our working class ancestors built this town, but they’re almost invisible today. This class looks beyond their shadows to the substance of their struggles for dignity and security. Learn to do research on your union or family work history. Class includes a field trip to Watkins Woolen Mill.

Fees are $310.25 for the one unit class. $865.33 for one three unit course, $1,697.93 for two. Graduate fees are $1,024.63 for one course and $2,016.53 for two.
