Teachers Teaching Writing: Summer Invitational Institute

The Invitational Institute brings together outstanding teachers of writing who work with diverse students in all academic content areas, kindergarten through college. Participants receive a $1050 honorarium upon completion.

Writing Through the Grades, K-14

June 14 - June 25, 2010
This two-week writing workshop is designed for all teachers, K-14, interested in learning writing as a process. Teachers will study and practice current theory in teaching writing, including assessment, in a workshop atmosphere.
Discussion of writing across the curriculum, journal writing and critical thinking, as well as work in small writing groups will help teachers focus on individual professional needs.

Advanced Institute

July 12 - July 16, 2010
This three-hour course is open to former participants in the NWP/GKCWP Summer Invitational. The course is designed for those interested in publishing their writing. Collaboration with other writers will be an important element in this experience. Participants will engage in writing activities, discussion with published writers, and peer response groups. They will also take time to reflectively write about the week. Participants receive a $400 stipend upon course completion.
